Amsterdam recommendations

I'm planning on taking dh away to Amsterdam in October, does anyone have any hotel recommendations?

I'm looking for somewhere pretty close to the city centre and would like to not spend too much, but obviously don't mind if it is a little more if it's nice, it'll only be myself and dh.

Thanks ☺️

Last time I went to Amsterdam I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel (Hekelveld 17, 1012 SN Amsterdam, Netherlands).

Was really central and within walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants and attractions.

Not sure of prices though, Amsterdam accommodation seems to have jumped quite a bit in recent times.

Lovely, I'll have a look at that, thank you! I've never been to Amsterdam, or even booked a holiday before, (dh usually does all of that, so thought I'd surprise him this time) so I have no idea what I'm doing! 😂

If you want to do museums book well in advance as they sell out pretty quickly.

I've just come back from Amsterdam! Wonderful city. We stayed at the Movenpick which was 10 mins walk from Central station (we went on Eurostar). As a previous poster said you need to book tickets in advance for popular sites such as Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House etc.
