Where on the birth certificate is the certificate number? On the passport form it says bottom left and 7 digits, I can't find it ??

drstranger · 12/06/2023 11:50

I'm only seeing a 6 digit number that says BCQ before it on the top right corner...

OP posts:
drstranger · 12/06/2023 11:51

And the number is slightly different on both pages of the certificate

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 12/06/2023 11:53

Does it really ask for the birth certificate number?

dementedpixie · 12/06/2023 11:54

Or put the 6 digit number with a 0 at the start maybe

drstranger · 12/06/2023 11:56

I just don't want to risk it getting refused !

This is what it's saying

I have nothing anywhere stating a certificate number

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 12/06/2023 12:02

Just put the number that's on it.
You'll be sending the certificate to them so it's probably so they can match the certificate to the application.

dementedpixie · 12/06/2023 12:03

As in just put the BCQ number if that's the only number that's there

drstranger · 12/06/2023 12:09

That's true!! Thank you I will it's the only sort of serial number there anyway

mindutopia · 12/06/2023 12:13

That certificate in the image isn't a birth certificate. It's a nationalisation registration certificate.

mindutopia · 12/06/2023 12:14

If you google UK birth certificate, you'll see what they look like. There is a short form and a long form.

Soontobe60 · 12/06/2023 12:16

You’ve put registration certificate image on, not a birth certificate. It’s top right, ignore the letters

toomuchlaundry · 12/06/2023 12:17

Don’t you need the long form one for passport

drstranger · 12/06/2023 12:18

That is the example for passport application is giving

That isn't a birth certificate. It isn't a certificate I am familiar with.

Was your baby born in the UK and registered within the statutory six week window after birth? If so then you should have the birth certificate. You can have a long form and/or a short form.

It will definitely clearly say Birth Certificate on it.

drstranger · 12/06/2023 12:21

It's got to be the 6 digit number I can see. I've rang the registry office and even they don't know... they said to put the system number which is bottom left but 9 digits long lol

That is not mine it's the example on the passport form. I have my babies birth certificate in front of me it doesn't have anywhere on it that states certificate number all it has is a system number on bottom left, on top right it has BCQ 1**9

OP posts:
toomuchlaundry · 12/06/2023 12:25

Does it have your details on it?

drstranger · 12/06/2023 12:27

toomuchlaundry · 12/06/2023 12:25

Yeah mine and the fathers. It is the only copy we were given. There was no second page on it. On my sons 8 years ago (same office) we had both sides to the certificate

OP posts:
drstranger · 12/06/2023 12:29

Found this online with prince Harry's details for some reason 😂 but an example to show you what certificate I have

I'm looking at ours and mine has the number at the top right but is a letter and then 5 numbers.
Dh's has the number at the bottom right and is 2 letters and 6 numbers

dementedpixie · 12/06/2023 12:33

Dd and ds's have the letters BF and then 7 numbers then CE at the end. Looks like they can differ a lot so just put whatever number is on there

steppemum · 12/06/2023 12:35

on the example that you have given with Prince Harry, the number is top right = 6 digits.

Toddler101 · 12/06/2023 12:42

Bottom left, it's labelled as "System Number" and is 9 digits long. I specifically asked the registrar where the number was when we registered baby birth, then I did my baby's passport application last week!

It's says to allow 10w turn around once they've received your documents, fyi...

Good luck!
