Arrested As A Teen.

My friend and I got arrested ( mid nineties ) as teenagers. We were with some older lads, the lads broke into a homeless shelter apartment and someone called the police. We were found in there.

They arrested us with suspicion of burglary, interviewed and Cautioned us and made us answer to bail 28 days later.

When we returned, we were given a ticking off and told never to show our faces in the police station again.

Would this have ever gone on our records? I've had checks before for jobs and nothing has ever come back. Do we have criminal records?

Call the police ans ask for a pnc check. If it was a caution you would've signed something. If you were charged you'd remember it! Sounds like it was no further actioned to me

A caution is an actual document that you sign to accept. Sounds like it was dropped.

All youth cautions, reprimands and warnings for u18s now become immediately spent and filtered so will not show up on any level of DBS check

I don't remember if I signed anything, it was so long ago and we were just kids. I remember them saying we were cautioned but I don't know if they said that to put the frighteners on us. I'll have to contact the police I think as I'm not sure if I have a criminal record or not.

If you were under 18 at the time then you definitely don't as all cautions and warnings for under 18s drop off your record as soon as they are given.

My DS1 was arrested at 16 for arson... ( wrongly, thankfully..it was his very similar looking mate although it gave him a nice warning to choose better friends!) Interviewed, cautioned etc.
He has had many DBS checks since as he worked as a TA here and now lives on the other side of the world where he works with autistic young people, so has had many many checks, inc very stringent ones for his visa and has never had anything show up, so I assume it was dismissed!
