Defrosting chicken for 48 hours!

Can’t believe it said that on the pack! I hadn’t seen it at first so popped it in the fridge last night then when it was still icy today, I covered it on a kitchen work surface ( not in direct sunlight). Eventually spotted that it said a minimum of 48 hours so we’re having our roast tomorrow. Does this seem a crazy amount of time? It’s not exactly a massive bird either!

Ive always just left it on the work top over night. Never an issue. Normally takeout when I'm cooking that nights tea so 5/6pm
If its defrosted by morning, i bung in fridge till ready to cook.

If defrosting in the fridge it takes days. I usually defrost things on the worktop too and then put in the fridge or cook it immediately
