€10 for a small bottle of water at a beach club in Ibiza.

The alcohol was eye watering my expensive but water just seemed like a complete piss take.

I was coming on to say this exact thing!! Unbelievable in Ibiza at the price of such a tiny bottle of water.

Walkingwithdinosaurs · 30/03/2024 20:33

Oh and €17 in Monaco for a Diet Coke

MuggedByReality · 30/03/2024 20:35

Not counting expensive wine in a restaurant on a special occasion, it was probably around €30 for a cocktail at a posh hotel in Cannes a few years ago.

Scarlettjade · 30/03/2024 20:39

£160 for 4 cocktails in Dubai, to be fair it was at the Burj Al Arab so I guess you’d expect higher than average prices

Oblomov24 · 30/03/2024 20:40

Not surprised by these. Many places are just a con!

Kalevala · 30/03/2024 20:42

£5 something for a pint of cider. It's usually just under, which is bad enough.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 30/03/2024 20:44

I think £20 for a cocktail is pretty standard in London.

My husband booked a lovely hotel in Rome for my 40th. It had a rooftop bar. 2 g&t cost almost £50, which I thought ludicrous.

Jewelanemone · 30/03/2024 20:45

£25 for an extremely lovely cocktail in the Atlas Bar in Singapore. Worth every penny. DH and I had two each as my mum had given us some money for our anniversary 🍸

Menomeno · 30/03/2024 20:48

€25 for a beer in Paris.

Paid $64 for two glasses of red wine at a Broadway theatre. Didn't tell my husband how much it was!

Omg, I would have fainted. The bar was having a laugh.

£100

bottle of blossom hill 😳 in Oman

we knew it would be expensive but i thought it might come in a carafe so we didn’t know just how much more we were paying

HesterPrincess · 30/03/2024 21:00

Cocktails in a posh bar on a friends hen night. They started at £35 each - thankfully I only had 3 and was on my nose. Had to get DH to come and get me as the room was spinning and I couldn't face a nightclub Grin it was champagne, gin and lemon juice if I recall? Frenchman? Fucking lethal whatever it was.

Gunz · 30/03/2024 21:41

£9 for half a pint of beer in Iceland -didnt dare look at wine or spirits prices!

Blossom Hill?!

Although it was probably like moonshine there

RufustheFactualReindeer · 30/03/2024 22:11

It was a very posh hotel namechanged 😀

Queijo · 30/03/2024 22:12

£120 per glass of champagne at Royal Hospital Road in London. Tasted nice but did want to die when I got the bill!

French 75. My favourite but I can't talk after 2 of them...delicious as they are!

Singleandproud · 30/03/2024 22:23

£17 for a cocktail but it was in the Disney Castle during a character meal at Disney Paris a decade ago and I expected it to be ££££, the price of drinks and food now in everyday place surprises me even though in my head I know the price of everything has gone up.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 30/03/2024 22:58

A friend of mins partner at the time got very drunk and asked for a double from a bottle covered in diamantés (think it was brandy)

Apparently he woke up the next morning still clutching the receipt for £250

$52 for a mojito in Las Vegas
(I made it last)

We are offered a €60 cocktail in Las Vegas or €150 for a 5 pitcher jug. We took the jug!
we had a min spend anyway and it with tip exceeded this.
it took us at least 3 hours to get through it’

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/03/2024 23:22

and this is why we dont go out to drink. Most expensive was a small glass of Montrachet 20 years ago for £20. Never again

Hibernatalie · 31/03/2024 09:46

This was in the news the other day - someone was charged £1800 for a cocktail which contained Crystal champagne and a really rare whisky. She thought it was £18.00. The hotel were really sound about it though and didn't make her pay.

TwirlyWhirlie · 31/03/2024 09:51

Think I got off lightly with my £16.50 cocktail in London last year. Mind you, it was a thimble full and full of ice. Had it been Wetherspoons measure, it probably would have been double that at least. At the same place, my husband order a cider. No joke, a third of a Prosecco glass full came out and that was £10!! I whispered to him ‘where’s the rest of it!!’ We left pretty sharpish!!
