Package holiday to Iceland

Has anyone done this? We'd be going with dc 14 and 17. We thought it would be a nice change from a sun and sand holiday. Our budget is 8k for everything and we'd like to have a planned itinerary. Any advice or experiences welcome!

Oof, the one piece of advice I'd give is to not tie yourself to too much of an itinerary!

I absolutely loved Iceland, but I did get sick of driving in and out of Reykjavik in the pitch black to make use of the limited daylight. So at the very least, I'd encourage you to travel from destination to destination.

For example our Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights trips all involved an hour there and back on the coach. Would have been the same for other excursions.

Another tip - don't book a room with a view! You'll see it for about ten minutes max before you're racing out to enjoy the daylight.

Hire a car and drive the entire ring road! We did 2 weeks and spent less than that with 2 kids. About 8 different accommodations, some Air BnB, some hotels. One of the best holidays we’ve had. Countless waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, black sand beaches, whale watching, seals, puffins, horses. Absolutely loved it.

My teen dc went with their school this year, they are still raving about it months later.
