Civil service - anyone in the know?

I'm applying for a job with the housing ombudsman which I found on the civil service job site. I've been interested in joining the civil service for a while and particularly like the idea of being able to move departments/job roles with (relative) ease.

From what I can tell, the housing ombudsman is sponsored by the department of levelling up, housing & communities but is a non-departmental public body. So would I get the same opportunities to move as an internal candidate?

I think I found the answer - despite searching previously to posting. I'm blaming the hayfever 😂

Looks like you cannot move internally from what I can see

I would have said yes you can

I dont know he answer...but just a heads up that you still have to go through the same application process as external candidates.....however you do get to see a lot of internal only jobs. I hoped there would be a simpler way to move but no you still have to do the application tests, personal statements etc!
