Online trainline tickets

If I buy a ticket on trainline, how do I use my ticket?

I'm going from zone 3 tube to an airport.

Will the oyster thing scan the ticket on my phone?

Honestly I would just use contactless. Anything else is just a bit of a pain.

If your journey is just tube, yes use contactless, butnif the trip out to the airport requires a "train" ticket and they will sell you an electronic one, yes the entry gates you need will recognise it. My line doesn't have the electronic ticket readers and trainline doesn't offer me an electronic ticket, I have to go and collect paper ones.

You may find it cheaper to use contactless for the tube journey and buy a separate train ticket for the journey out of London. Travel cards are expensive unless you're going to be hopping on and off a lot.

Trainline had a ticket for 16.60 but I couldn't be arsed to fuck about so I used contactless on the tube to Victoria and bought a ticket from the counter from Victoria to the airport.

It cost maybe £7ish more.

I didn't want a travel card. I wanted to buy the ticket on ticketline but wasn't sure how that would cover to getting through the barriers.

It turns out you buy the ticket then log in on the machine at the station and print your ticket.

I was worried about time so just bought a ticket at the counter.
