Wickham Market - would you move there?

So we’re currently looking to move from SLondon to wickham market in suffolk - seems like it has the right mix of sleepy village with close proximity to a good ish school (state - primary and secondary), bigger towns with pub and restaurant options and connections to London.

But we’ve also just seen a more rural property thats in catchment for hartismere - so down the road but further from the coast.

Help! What would you do? Hit me with your wickham market vs eye/ diss thoughts o wise ones!!

I know both areas well. Wickham Market is a large village/v small town, thriving primary school and big enough for a CoOp supermarket/doctors/dentist. Catchment secondary school is Farlingaye or Thomas Mills (I am not sure which officially, but students go to both). Both good schools. Eye/Diss are bigger towns, more facilities but probably less quiet and certainly less villagey in feel. Very pretty countryside but rural is really rural! Hartismere is a v good school , although not sure if it has a sixth form? Eye and Diss much more central Suffolk than East Suffolk, and people go shopping to Norwich rather than Ipswich or Bury, and of course it’s further from the sea. Connections to London still pretty easy as Diss has a station, although obviously a bit further. Property prices cheaper than Woodbridge or Wickham Market. PM me if you want.

Eye is lovely, I prefer it to Diss, Diss seems to be slowly dying so now our nearest place with a range of shops is Norwich. Wickham Market is probably better placed for big supermarkets etc as Ipswich isn't that far away. Which bit of coast do you want to get to? I am close to Eye and I can get to Southwold in around 35/40 minutes. Eye has a good doctors surgery and good schools, not so sure about Wickham Market as we discounted it when looking for a house (my job at the time was county wide and travelling home from somewhere like Sudbury after a night shift made Wickham Market a drive too far).

Wickham Market and Eye have pretty similar sized populations, both around 2.2k, Diss is much bigger at around 10k and just over the border into Norfolk.
