Help! I've just fucked up an expensive Father's Day card!

Funky Pigeon are SHIT.

I just found the perfect card for my dad. Spent AGES editing it and getting it right (or so I thought). Went through the checkout process and my order went through.

The card is so perfect for my dad that I ordered the A4 version, costing a few pence short of £10 including P&P to another European country (where my dad lives but I don't).

Because I'm a complete idiot, I forgot to edit a small but very important detail inside the card where you add a personal message. I realised the second the order was confirmed. After seaching, I found conflicting information on their OWN BLOODY WEBSITE as to whether they can cancel an order or not. In one section it says once an order has been confirmed it cannot be edited or cancelled, and in another section it says if you make a mistake to contact them but they can't guarantee cancellation if the order has been processed (sent for printing).

I could message them and hope they can cancel but I've left it too late to wait for a reply from FP and potentially re-order (estimated delivery date is next Saturday, so the day before Father's Day with obviously no post on the Sunday). I could pay another (nearly) tenner and be massively out of pocket BUT worse than that, my dad would receive two cards the same on the front but different inside which would totally take the shine off.

Even worse, I can't find ANY way to view from either my order confirmation email, or the app, or the desktop website what the inside of the card will actually look like. It's either an unmitigated disaster OR I might get away with it with a little explanation. IF I could see that I may get away with it, it wouldn't be worth trying to cancel.

TL;DR - is there a way to see inside a card once an order has been placed?

Deep breaths - what actually is the mistake?

Elieza · 10/06/2023 22:21

If it’s just the writing in the inside you could fold a bit of printer paper into a card shape and stick over the whole thing inside like it’s meant to be there?

That way you could type up the correct message on it prior to insertion.

Id imagine reasonably thick paper would be the best. If you don’t have access to a printer you’d then have to hand write the message yourself.

I think it gets posted straight to her dad?

Crimblecrumble1990 · 10/06/2023 22:29

Not sure why you're calling FP shit? You made a mistake and haven't even contacted them to see if it can be corrected?

So aside from not being able to view the inside of the card which is an annoying oversight, they've done nothing wrong?

unlikelychump · 10/06/2023 22:34

On our new baby announcement cards I forgot to edit the back. So 100 of the buggers arrived (to me) welcoming our new darling billy. Ds had a similar name and we just crossed it out and make 100 jokes....

Poor third child

BillyNoM8s · 10/06/2023 22:36

I made a typo in a moonpig and couldn't change it. I'd only think you may have a chance if you selected a delayed postage date. These companies are pretty quick to print as it's all automated.

I agree FP haven't done anything wrong? You made the mistake, not them.

I can only speak for Moonpig, but in their "my orders" sections I can see a preview of my past orders.

Yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo · 10/06/2023 22:39

You will have to phone them asap to get it sorted. But it is probably already too late- many people use these companies because of their quick delivery- which unfortunately doesn’t leave much room
for error.

TheFlis12345 · 10/06/2023 22:53

So you made a mistake, and haven’t even contacted them to see if they can fix your error? And yet you are calling them shit? Really?!?!?

User124534687 · 10/06/2023 22:57

I think she means they’re shit because (a) the info is hard to find and (b) wheb yoi finally find the information, there’s conflicting info on its own website.

That is a fair use of the word shit to me.

Very frustrating!

OooohAhhhh · 10/06/2023 23:16

You can't view the inside of the card on Funky Pigeon but you can on Moonpig

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/06/2023 23:16

Frustrating but I wouldn't expect them to do much about it given the product is personalised and confirmed by the customer before submitting; it's just one of those things where you've made a mistake and that's that.

I'd just give your dad a heads up you fluffed the card and I'm sure it will be laughed about at some point. What else can actually be done.

I've paid for the card to be sent to another European country. I won't clap eyes on it!

I called FP shit because they have conflicting information on their site AND you can't view the inside of your card once an order is placed.

Thank you. You've been the only one to actually answer my question! It's very frustrating not being able to see inside the card(s) you've ordered! That, to me, is fair use of the word 'shit'.

Notanotherone5 · 11/06/2023 06:42

Does your dad live with anyone? Could you get them to intercept the card and see what it looks like inside / correct it? X

adularia · 11/06/2023 08:36

Surely it’s worth emailing them asap if it says in one section to contact them? There’s zero chance of a cancellation if they aren’t aware you’ve made an error… If they say sorry, it’s too late, then worry about explanations etc. I’d have done this straight away.

BonnieGlasses · 11/06/2023 08:40

Ten quid for a card! Shock You'd have been cheaper to buy and post one.

stuckasastuckthing · 11/06/2023 09:33

In terms of seeing what the inside is like, could you start a new order of the same card and then preview it as I imagine if you make the same edits it will be the same? That might give you some reassurance if it's ok.

OooohAhhhh · 11/06/2023 11:01

I tried to quote your response but can't because it already contains a quote!
Anyway, I noticed a while ago you can't view inside of cards on FP. If Moonpig can do it I'm not sure why FP don't do it as well. I agree, it's good to look back to see what the inside of the card contains.

No it's Funky Pigeon

Muncha · 11/06/2023 11:20

They'll change it if you ask them. It's not a big deal at all

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/06/2023 11:22

If you go through the order process again (but don't actually buy it) will it show you the standard message in it?
