-Please can people recommend some great campsites with lovely swimming pools, play areas etc … that they have been to.

  • Probably max of about 3/4hrs from Calais
  • We can take tent or hire

We used to do this as children and I’d love to take my kids. But would like some ideas of which ones are nice!

There's a nice one in Loches. Not sure if that's within your driving distance but I don't think it's too far down. The town is in walkable distance and there is a playground onsite and a good swimming pool

@cakeorwine Yelloh village seems familiar. I think someone once recommended this to me a few years ago.

I will take a look at the ones mentioned thank you!

The best campsite in France doesn't fit your brief, but it's by a lake and has a large stables that teaches you to ride. It is in central France about half an hour's drive from Brive la gaillarde . La France profonde. It is called the Moulin de Malesse, because the earth is peaty and the water therefore very dark. Back in the 90s they'd let you gallop a horse across the fields after a few hours training. Best summer days ever.

La Croix Du Vu Point around 2 hours (if I recall from Calais) has lakes, pools, golf, a spa, onsite bakery. Ive been probably 8 times. Weve been back here the most (have been all over France since I was young, am now 29). Can even do day trips to Paris and a themepark.
