Are saying we owe them £500 a month.
We are a family of 4 in a 3 bed terrace.
They won't tell us what's making it so high or why it's become so.
We can't afford £6k a year. Both public sector.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Have you done monthly readings ? Where do they get your reading from ?

Is that the direct debit they want to set?
Do you submit regular meter readings?
Are you in debit or credit on your energy account?
Does your current payment cover your usage?
Who is your energy provider?

I think you need to work out your current annual energy usage and compare that to the monthly direct debit they want. Do you have a smart meter? If your usage matches up then you need to work out why you're using so much and how you can cut down.

If you're not using this much then you need to find out why they're wanting such a high direct debit and see if they'll reduce it.

You need to provide more info before we can say if its reasonable
