Customs charges

I ordered an item I could only get from Germany, sending it to MyGermany who are a parcel forwarding service.

I got the letter today saying customs charges are £160! The item itself was €20 but MyGermany have put €500 on the parcel, so HMRC based their calculations on that.

I have seen that the only way to sort it is to pay and then query after, has anyone got any experience of this? The parcel is coming on Monday, so will have all the evidence to send to HMRC, as well as the sales invoice showing the item only cost €20.

you just document that the value was exaggerated you paid far less, it's worth far less. I haven't had them dispute anything I could document well. You won't escape the admin fee, though.

That's fine. I don't mind paying the admin fee as even with forwarding fees and charges, the item still worked out cheaper as it was in the sale, and not available in the UK.

Worked out it should have been about £5 instead of the £149 I've had to pay, hopefully they will sort it quickly

In reverse, I was stung for 9€ on a £66 bikini from bravissimo delivered to France. They labelled it as not being made in the UK, so fair enough. BUT, they never did this before Brexit.

I got stung badly by Irish customs for a pair of £17 leggings from Love Leggings. Cost me double in the end.
Bl*.ody Brexit.
