Sold a brand new boxed collectable ornament on Vinted, I have had it listed for a while without a sale & had an offer of £1 so accepted just to get rid of it. I have photos from every single angle showing no faults, chips, breakages etc.

Buyer got item today & claims a piece is missing, says it's not in the packaging at all yet the packaging was intact (item was in original box with polystyrene around it in the box then bubble wrap surrounding the box as well)

Wanted to return the item, which I agreed & said I'd refund on return even though I know it wasn't faulty when I sent it. Claims I need to send £5.xx and she's speaking with a team before she'll return item - no idea which team. Was then offensive & aggressive on messages. When I said I'll refund after checking it when I get it back suddenly I'm blocked, and negative feedback left saying I've deliberately sent a faulty item. Vinted have said can't delete the feedback & to work with he buyer to sort it out basically, but the money will be released to me. How am I supposed to work it out with a buyer who has blocked me?

I've had a few issues recently on Vinted with buyers claiming faults I know weren't on the item so have deliberately started taking extra photos that aren't always added to the Vinted page but available if buyer starts trying to scam me, the photos for this item clearly show the part is intact on it that she's claiming is faulty but Vinted said until item is returned there's nothing they can do.

Is it just me or is Vinted just like this in general? People just trying it on to scam money from you or swap their broken items for your new goods? I've been selling on eBay for years with over 1200 all positive feedback & only swapped to Vinted due to having too many missing items during Royal Mail strikes. Am I making a big mistake?

I just don’t get the point of selling items for £1? After your time, packaging and sending it it just isn’t worth the hassle.

Looks like your buyer wants their postage costs refunded too.

HereWeGoAgain16 · 08/06/2023 20:05

I only sold for £1 just to get rid, it was listed for a higher amount. You think it's ok for me to send the buyer money BEFORE they return the item? It didn't cost over £5 to post it to them in the first place.

I’ve come to the conclusion, for all its faults, eBay is safer for both the buyer and the seller tbh.

The first thing I sold was delivered to a communal area at the recipients block of flats. I had proof of dispatch and delivery but because the recipient claimed to have received the item from the communal area, vinted wouldn't release the funds. They automatically refunded the buyer. I complained and, as a 'goodwill gesture' they refunded me the money too. But I wasn't impressed as I would have been out of pocket had they not done that, despite me doing absolutely everything right and having all of the required proof of doing so.

Don't refund before you get it back! You agree a return, she does it and you click the ok button when you've had it and she gets her money back.

So far, I’ve had no problem with Vinted and find it an easier process than EBay. Have posted a couple of items in the last two days so hope I’m not tempting fate.

HereWeGoAgain16 · 08/06/2023 21:42

This buyer wanted over £5 ON TOP OF REFUND in advance before she would send the item back. Then when I said I would refund after receiving item she blocked me so now it won't allow me to send any further messages.

Never had any issues with Vinted myself, sold over 20 items and had all 5 star reviews. You can reply to their reviews if you want to tell your side and it's visible to everyone.

Absc · 08/06/2023 21:57

Don’t refund until returned and it says on Vinted that the buyer is responsible for postage costs. I’ve only ever had one item sent back and refunded what they had paid me only.

i have bought one thing on Vinted. It was a scam.

I have heard more and more people being scammed on the platform. It used to be good, but it's gone the way of ebay now

SconesCreamJamTea · 09/06/2023 07:01

Just ignore her op.
Complain to vinted yourself.
Tell them you think she's a scammer.

HereWeGoAgain16 · 09/06/2023 08:14

Luckily overnight Vinted have deleted the feedback & agreed the pictures she sent with the fault aren't the same as the item I sent her. I'm just glad I took the extra photos now.

How do you complain to Vinted please? I have a buyer right now who says the item is faulty. I know it wasn’t when I sent it. I’ve asked for pics. Nothing!

She's no intention of sending it back, she's trying to scam you out a fiver. She needs reporting.

Reported to Vinted who said nothing they could do and to only refund/send money after item was returned. In the end buyer left me negative feedback calling me a liar & a scammer etc - eventually Vinted deleted the comment.

On the item page/conversation page click the exclamation mark at the top then I think it's help and follow whatever works for you.

I've bought and sold with absolutely no issues at all other than one buyer wasn't happy, I said return it and I'll refund so she did, and I refunded plus postage. My fault not hers. I've found it great tbh.

Thank you. I’ll give it a try 🙏
