Ikos or Sani resort?

Sorry for all the threads about this! If you’ve been to both which did you prefer! We can’t decide. Sani looks amazing but worried the drinks are going to land us with a big bill when we leave even though we aren’t big drinkers as they look very expensive.
ikos also looks great but the reviews of Olivia which we had been looking at haven’t been that brilliant.

can’t decide!

Following as having the same dilemma! I’m pregnant so won’t even be drinking but even the Sani soft drinks look like they might add up!

This is what’s putting us off! The reviews for Sani are better but I’m thinking ice creams for my nephew and soft drinks during the day plus the odd wine or cocktail at night mind up being pretty pricey

Sani has gone up in price and IMO down in quality over the past few years. Even a bottle of water by the pool is 5 euro and it's almost bloody impossible to get sun beds or book restaurants in high season as the app is utterly rubbish.

We are going to Ikos Dassia for the first time in September.
There are Facebook groups for each individual resort and 1 for them all which has lots of people posting photos and mini reviews as well as first timers asking questions. I've found them helpful in our planning

Thanks for the tip. When booking direct with Ikos, did you have to pay all upfront or a deposit to hold?

We booked through an independent travel agent so I'm not sure. Plus we had to amend the booking 2 years in a row as the first year I was pregnant and last year our friends were getting married so we're keeping everything crossed that we finally make it!

Ikos every time. It adds ultra to AI Grin

Nothing is too much trouble, staff are superb, great variety in restaurants and drinks. Proper branded drinks in the mini bars well.

I always ask before going if there is anything specific I want. Always sorted.

A free day's use of a mini is included so if you want to explore and haven't hired a car it's a greta way to do it. Just pay for full used.

We went to the Aria when it had only been open a couple of weeks, (it was great as only 20 mins from airport) Olivia and Oceania. I'd thoroughly recommend Aria and Olivia. I found the layout at Oceania not as good with the multiple buildings dotted throughout the site.

mostly have gone with Jet2 but went to Olivia last time direct. Meant personal transfers included.

great not greta and fuel not full

I WANT AN EDIT OPTION!!! Grin

We're about to go on our second trip to Ikos Andalusia. Never been to Sani but prefer all inclusive. Even if you're not big drinkers it looks like the costs are very high. Can't recommend it enough - awesome holiday experience.

billyt · 08/06/2023 13:29

There is a site called Ikos Holidays which claims it's an Ikos partner.

We booked two Ikos Holidays for 2020. Aria with Jet2 and Olivia via Ikos Holidays. Of course lockdown put a stop to any holidays so we wanted to cancel . Jet2 called us and asked us what we preferred, rebook, vouchers or refund. I said refund, it was sorted out on that phonecall and back to my CC in a couple of days. Ikos Holidays called me and wanted me to rebook. I refused and asked for the refund I was entitled to. Wouldn't listen, kept trying to get me to rebook/accept vouchers. After a few weeks of broken promises and outright lies I did a chargeback. Just saying for info.Wink

I've booked direct with Ikos this time, think we paid about a 20% deposit and the rest is payable on arrival.

I have been to both but not for 6 years so could have changed. Sani was way better than Ikos. The beach is beautiful and the food was higher quality. We mainly ate at the buffet. There are shops at Sani (or there were) so I bought water and ice lollies that way rather than order them to the lounger. Drinks were pricey but we stuck to beer to save money. I had 2 preschoolers so we weren’t really going large anyway.

Mixedmixed · 24/06/2023 13:01

Also been to both. Sani is better than Ikos in my opinion but more expensive. The food is better at Sani & the beach & facilities too. I just preferred the whole Sani expensive more - we stayed at Porto. Sani Beach is probably similar to Ikos. Porto & Dunes are more upmarket. We spent an extra 2.5k though (2 adults/2 preschoolers) so definitely worth factoring the extra cost on top of what you're paying.

FoodieToo · 24/06/2023 13:52

You pay a third when you book directly with Ikos . And the rest on check out .
