Do cats and foxes usually play??

Just caught next doors cat having a rip roaring time with a fox in our back garden. Playing exactly the same way as 2 cats would. Never seen this before in my life! Is this normal and I'm just sheltered in the cat / fox relationship world?

My cat is pretty antisocial I imagine he would turn his back on a fox or give it a good angry stare. He is livid that my neighbour puts cat food in a cat proof hedgehog house. He sits sits at the window of an evening getting cross at them!

I can't say I blame the cat tbh poor thing. He's like oi would have that if you hadn't cat proofed it 😂

Our cat used to share food with the local foxes and they'd have dust baths together in the kerb.

Very tame around each other.

@JorisBonson

I came home one evening and found my cat and a fox curled up having a lovely nap together in the sunshine!
Oh stop it 🥰

I am trying to find the photo I took but it was about 14 years ago now and my old (dead) cat. The ginger Tom I have now will not entertain them at all.

My cat is terrified of other cats coming into the garden but is fierce about chasing foxes out and then standing guard to make sure they don't return!

Dust baths are her favourite thing.

Our family of foxes love a good mess about with each other. The dad brought a tennis ball over tonight and they’ve had an absolute blast.

I bet this was lovely to watch

Ours do this. Then just sit and take the air companionably.

I don't let my cat out at night but I did see him chase a fox out of a garden at 5.30pm one winter's evening, a cat who's scared of his is own shadow.
