Not a poo troll, MN can confirm etc etc etc.

Been struggling for years with my bowels and bum. Saw the GP recently who gave me pile cream and fybrogel and sent me on my way. I have had colonoscopies in the past which were clear.

Some days I'm ok then attacks will come from nowhere. Today I had a very normal lunch (cheese and ham wrap) and with an hour I was on the loo with horrific cramps and diarrhoea which then make the piles ten times worse. There is no obvious trigger but the anxiety of this happening makes it all much worse when I'm out and about. However today I was at home so it's clearly more of a physician trigger today.

GP just doesn't want to know. I would love to hear some of your IBS lifestyle hacks and cures. I think this is something that's getting worse as I age and the unpredictability of it is awful.

I went gluten and lactose free and get far far less IBS or diarrhoea - the doctor did tell me that gluten and lactose intolerance is on the rise- especially with age- partly because a lot of us eat and drink far too much of it these days-

I’ve had this issue and it turned out I had a dairy allergy!

I would recommend keeping a diary and then try cutting things out for 2 weeks then add it back in for one meal and go all out as an experiment

My 12 year old son has had an upset stomach after eating most days for about the last 18 months. Suddenly the other day the penny dropped that it was gluten. He has cut it out his diet and immediately, his stomach has got better and his bowels back to normal. I would definitely look at what the triggers are. From his point of view gluten was in most his meals but it didn't need to be and many of the replacements aren't as good as the gluten product, it is definitely better than the alternative.

Get back to your GP and get referred. I had bleeding, mucus and urgency and a change in bowel habits - all markers for cancer but I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. It's been 4 years now and it took 3 to find the right medication for me. The longer it's left the worse it may get. Please go to your GP for a referral, worry/stress won't be helping your symptoms at all.

I have chronic IBS, and no matter what I eat and what quantity, the middle meal of the day ALWAYS gives me bloating horrendous cramps and usually diarrhea. I take 2 immodium (on prescription) and 2 charcoal tablets before every meal which helps the other meals but still lunchtime is an issue! You could try the immodium before your meal and if it works ask the GP to prescribe it?

I swear gluten is the work of the devil , huge improvement when I cut it out.
