Arctic Monkeys at Emirates stadium

I'm taking DD to see Arctic Monkeys at the Emirates Stadium next weekend (she is very excited!) but haven't been into London for years. We're going to be catching the train from Reading which I believe is on the Elizabeth line. Do I just tap in and out for me? What do I do for DD? Do I need to buy her a separate ticket from ticket machine?

I was planning on going to Finsbury Park and walking from there - is it safe after the concert? Is it easy to find your way?

Also, doors open at 5pm so what time would you recommend we get there?

Sorry for the all the questions - this is completely new to me!

Tap in using your card, does she have a card, if not give her one of yours. Either get off the Elizabeth line at Bond St then short walk to Oxford Circus to get the Victoria Line to Finsbury Park, or change at Moorgate and get the train to Finsbury Park.

It’s an easy walk to the stadium - just follow the crowds! Is there a warm up act? If you want to see them then get there for 5pm, if not there should be a line up with times on the website so you can time it for who you want to see.

There are some nice places to eat on Blackstock Road if you get there earlier.

I'm going to take DD 14 this weekend too. I'm a bit of a novice. What time is best to turn up? Not sure about the support acts. If you've been already can you tell me what the atmosphere was like please? I read on another thread that it can be dodgy. Thanks

We’re just on the way home after seeing them last night. Incredible atmosphere, everyone so friendly and helpful and felt very safe walking back to our hotel afterwards (me and 11 yr old DD). Monkeys don’t come on until around 830, warm up acts don’t start until around 630 so don’t rush to get there for 5. Also recommend you eat before you go in as food choice is limited, and bring lots and lots of water!

The show was amazing we had such a great time, they are amazing live. Enjoy!!

What time did it finish? We have to sprint across London and catch a last train after the gig.
Really looking forward to it - sounds fab.

EugeneEufy · 17/06/2023 08:20

That’s good to hear @rileybelle.
My daughter bought tickets but is now in hospital so can’t go so I’m going.

rileybelle · 17/06/2023 08:28

I’m so sorry to hear that @EugeneEufy I hope she gets better soon.

It finished at 1030 and it wasn’t too bad getting out of the stadium. If you’re going to get merch definitely get it before as the queues after were massive.

EugeneEufy · 17/06/2023 08:43

Thank you x

She’s long term unwell so sucks that the concert coincided with a re-admission but (without meaning to sound too dramatic) such is the nature of her illness, she would have died if she wasn’t in there so in the grand scheme of things I keep thinking ‘it’s only a concert’ and there’ll be other times she can go.

Thanks for the Merch tip!

EugeneEufy · 17/06/2023 09:48

@rileybelle who was/were the warm up acts? Do you know if it’s the same every night?
Saw Wet Leg as the warm up the other day and they were fab.

LinkEEDin · 17/06/2023 10:25

Great tips, thank you.
Do you know what time The Mysterines come on?

@EugeneEufy hope she is stable again soon and can do something else.

Notjustabrunette · 17/06/2023 10:30

I went last night, great gig. My tips would be go for dinner first. There are some nice places to eat on the Holloway road. There is water refill in the venue. If you are standing there isn’t a cloak room, so only bring a small bag with you. Enjoy!

Teddypops · 17/06/2023 10:47

My DD12 saw them in Bristol and she loved it so much. You don't need to get there until 7ish.
Enjoy

rileybelle · 17/06/2023 14:16

@EugeneEufy it was the Mysterines (very very good, well worth watching) then the Hives, who's frontman was absolutely hilarious. He ended up in the crowd at one point, pretending to phone the queen... the music was a bit too heavy rock for me but they were worth it for the entertainment value!!

rileybelle · 17/06/2023 14:18

@LinkEEDin they came on around 630

Howlin Pelle Almqvist is the best frontman in rock, everyone should go to a Hives gig!

EugeneEufy · 18/06/2023 07:44

Oh wowsers, they were AMAZING. So glad I didn’t sell the tickets now.

LinkEEDin · 18/06/2023 09:58

Oh great! Can't wait now.
Roughly how long does it take to get out of stadium at the end please?

EugeneEufy · 18/06/2023 10:45

It was quick to get out but the queue for Arsenal station was long.

I went to get Merch at the end and a couple of girls came down and told me it had finished and they were leaving. I went back up and the band came back out and did 3 more songs so don’t leave!!

Train was packed but loads of people got off at Kings Cross.

DD said it was better than Harry Styles who we saw on Tuesday and she absolutely loved that concert so for her to say AM were even greater is all you need to know 😆

LinkEEDin · 18/06/2023 14:39

Thank you 😊

EugeneEufy · 20/06/2023 16:21

Did you have a good time @LinkEEDin ??

LinkEEDin · 20/06/2023 16:39

Yes! We loved it so much! Thanks for all tips 😀
