DBS check

Recently got a provisional job offer, awaiting successful pre-employment checks with the civil service. It’s baseline security checks, and I have no convictions or cautions.

However I did report significant abuse to the police as a victim, and the perpetrators are under investigation. Is this something that may flag on a DBS under other information? I know the police can disclose this in special circumstances.

I know the police can report mental health incidents on a DBS - I’ve never had any incidents but I guess I’m worried about being stigmatised as a victim of DV.

Hi,

You will be fine, the questioning is mainly around family and if you have an links to crime.

It comes back within 2-3 weeks.

If they need more information they contact you

As the previous person replied, I think it's extremely unlikely all of that would come up as you aren't the perpetrator of a crime, simply the victim. Sorry to hear about what you are going through and I hope you receive the best outcome to aid you in building a much more positive experience towards your mental health and physical. You are worthy. You are invaluable. You are important. You are loved. Don't let somebody take away you from you. Anybody who needs to put another person down is simply a person who hates themselves and project their insecurities onto someone else, that makes them super weak. I'd also recommend getting into a contact sport such as jiu jitsu (it's not aggressive such as punching, kicking etc) it's based on ground work such as learning how to grapple, restraining someone using different moves etc it's been proven to be a great way to channel your hurt, frustrations etc into a physical and learn invaluable skills to defend yourself, it puts you back in control. Most people attack using hands etc. You can put the strongest boxer into a ring with a jiujitsu fighter, the minute they're on the ground that's your territory, your domain and they'd struggle to even fight you, would be game over for them. Please take care of yourself and remember you are indeed loved!
