Honestly - with great difficulty.

Crois look after the student halls, you have to put in an application with them but there are no guarantees of a place.

For private rentals look at Leboncoin. French students don't yet know if they have their place but will very soon so you need to get moving before they do. Most places need a guarantee which means providing full information including payslips for the past 3 months and your last year's tax return. I have no idea if they would accept a non french resident being guarantor.

He is attending an international course, and the school have given us a list of places but it all seems so confusing!
I am frustrated with myself for leaving it until now, we have known since January that he has his place.
Do you know when French pupils find out if they have a place?

Are you able to provide any further help?
We have filled in all the forms but heard nothing
I have no idea what to do and if there is a secret code to be able to get someone to reply to emails
Feeling so worried that he will not have anywhere to live

We used a rental broker person. I’m really sorry, have checked my emails and can’t find anything/remember what they were called, plus it was a few years ago, but they do exist!

It’s a nightmare. The French rental market is brutal.

I will also say, gently, that my university experience was brutal. Chaotic, grotty facilities (loos without loo seats, lecture halls without enough seats so if you weren’t super early you spent an hour on the floor), long (very long) days… I toughened up a LOT but it was a steep, unpleasant, learning curve. Pastoral supportive was non-existent so please do check in on him regularly. It may have improved, of course…
