Which holiday with husband for £1k each?

CostOfSieving · 06/06/2023 14:20

I’d like to go on holiday in September this year with my husband for 7 nights.

If your budget was £1k each for flight and hotel (happy to pay more for transfers and luggage etc), where would you go?

Mallorca

MollyRover · 06/06/2023 14:22

Greece

DustyLee123 · 06/06/2023 14:29

Cyprus, Greece or Turkey

gogohmm · 06/06/2023 14:40

Italy, Portugal or perhaps Morocco

littlefireseverywhere · 06/06/2023 14:43

Ooh yes Morocco or Greece. Or corfu / ferry to Albania

I'm just back from Egypt and it was exceptionally good value. You'd have change from a budget of £1000 each! Short-ish flight, fantastic food, weather fab.
Depends what sort of holiday you fancy though- if relaxing in a lovely all inclusive is appealing- I would definitely consider Egypt!

CostOfSieving · 06/06/2023 16:21

Thank you for the suggestions! I hadn’t considered Egypt but will have a look now 🙂

I always go away for a September week with my DH and have enjoyed Balearics, Turkey and Greek islands in recent years as the sea is so warm then.

StoneColdAlibi · 06/06/2023 16:28

What sort of holidays do you enjoy?
I hated Egypt, it felt claustrophobic and soulless in an AI.

2gorgeousboys · 06/06/2023 16:34

We love the Greek Islands in September.

Chewbecca · 06/06/2023 16:35

I like pretty much all of the Med in September- perfect month.
What do you and your DH like to do? Fly and flop? Fine dining? Exploring lots of ruins?

KenAdams · 06/06/2023 16:38

Rome, Pompei and Venice?

Evenstar · 06/06/2023 16:49

We stayed at Lake Como last September for a similar budget, four star hotel with a lake view on half board. I think holidays generally have gone up a lot since last year

itsgettingweird · 06/06/2023 16:52

What sort of holiday do you want?

Relaxing AI I'm a resort that you stay pretty much in the hotel then Egypt is perfect.

Somewhere you get out and about and explore but also have pools etc Greece, Croatia or Italy.

Egypt offers a lot if you’re in to days out.

We've booked Cyprus this year

Went for a wedding last year only for 3 days as we went without kids and loved it so booked a family holiday

Just over 2k but includes AI, hotel flights luggage and choosing seats etc

Good weather, good food, beautiful place

Are you you doing DIY or travel agent stuff.

Paxed · 06/06/2023 17:10

It’s like asking “hello, I’m awake, what shall I do today?” to a room full of strangers. Well, what would you like to do.

Some people and sone people’s questions are VERY lazy.

Paxed · 06/06/2023 17:11

Some people are very lazy that should read.

@Paxed I was just looking for inspiration. Feel free to answer questions that meet your criteria in future!

The point is that we are trying to help you get answers that would suit you, it's not an unreasonable expectation that you provide a bit of information.

Just a mention about Mallorca- I'm a massive fan and we go nearly every year but twice in September we've had a lot of rain and floods and a local told us it was quite common then too - it's when 'the weather breaks'. Since then we've always been June/early July and once in October.

Never had that issue in Greece or southern Spain - I like Marbella a lot too , really lovely old town plus the fun blingy port at Puerto banus and Malaga is a lovely city for a night or too as part of it -

Another vote for Majorca. Astoria Playa adults only hotel is fab!
