What do you do during a long hair appointment?

I'm having a full head of highlights on Friday afternoon. I let it all grow out in lockdown and thought it would be nice to go back to my original hair colour. It's not nice. It's a horrible washed out light brown. So now I'm looking at a 4+ hour appointment to be blonde again. My friend suggested taking my laptop and working. Is this a thing? I could do with being online during this time but not the end of the world if I'm not. What does everyone else do??

Read usually. I take my Kindle, or chat to the hairdresser

Read or look at my phone.

I’m a hairdresser and I find people usually like to chat during the process and then when waiting for colour to develop they will read or listen to podcasts etc.

I do sometimes have people say at the start of the appointment that they have work they need to get done and they get their laptop out. Which I find a bit of a relief actually as I can then just concentrate on the hair and not the small talk! My colleagues all feel the same, especially on a full head of foils 😀

Read or get some work done from my phone.

I always chat whilst the hairdresser is working on me, but I take my Kindle to read whilst waiting for colour to take etc. They give me a cup of tea and a biscuit - it's really relaxing! Going to the hairdresser is really the only me time I get so make the most of it.
But they have free wifi there so if I needed to work I could if I really had to.

I take my laptop and work - interspersed with a bit of chat sometimes. There will be a fairly long period while you are waiting for it to work when you are on your own.

If I’m not “at work” then I will bring a book.

I quite often work. If not I just read or browse mumsnet and Twitter.

Last time I went, I downloaded the show I'm watching on Netflix and watched that on my phone with headphones! I had a coffee and a KitKat, such a treat!

I love my hairdresser and we mostly talk through appointments. 50% of mine are around 3 hours .
Otherwise I catch up on emails and read to make the most of the enforced downtime.
Until last time when i realised the hair dye had permanently stained the arms of my new glasses😩
