How much toast is reasonable?

DS's plate piled high with toast (3 slices). Hear a click and three pop out of the toaster 😮 plus a yogurt, a hot chocolate and a glass of water.
I'm inclined to think this is greedy and no one can be that hungry. DH laugh

I've taken mine shopping so he can see which things are more expensive treats and which things I don't mind him grazing on because it's cheaper. I wouldn't mind a pile of toast - I'd encourage additions such as an egg or beans to make it more filling but they are also starving and lazy and want it now so there's only so much you can do.

You have to rethink everything.
This is my problem! If he eats 2/3 a packet of toast in one sitting, I won't have enough for the rest of the week! Shall take note of not telling him he is being greedy in the future. Must admit I did this morning, also because it meant there was nothing left for DC2 and he knows DC 2 will only eat a slice of toast in the mornings.

So, should I step in and say he should eat an egg and cut down on the toast?

@WilkinsonM he's not overweight...yet. He is by no means stick thin, he's wears adult S/M size. He does very little exercise (dyspraxia) and has a history of eating until he is sick because he doesn't recognise when he's full (think processing issues linked to asd).

I did try buying him high protein yogurts for breakfast and normal for the rest of the day but it didn't seem to make any difference to how much cereal he was eating. Someone on here told me they would fill him up!

My 6 foot 5, hollow legged 14 year old son, who of course plays lots of sport (at high level obvs, is there really any other kind?) would have ate the whole loaf and 2 boxes of cereal with 4 pints of milk. And been looking for more food an hour later of course. I’m a munsnetter after all. Oh those teen boys and their appetites. 😅

Teen years for my DS, he ate an huge amount. He was skinny but we went to America for almost a month on holiday when he was 16 and stayed at various places inc all you can eat breakfast hotels he actually filled out but the amount he ate there was phenomenal. He used to say he had hunger pains.

Calling him greedy just for being hungry first thing in the morning is damage enough. You need to tread carefully with your comments

My DS eats a lot and is slim. He has access to whatever food he wants between meals which are very substantial
