Hilariously weird inspector!

I'm remortgaging and my bank sent out a surveyor/inspector for the mortgage application process. Just a routine appointment I'll never see her again, so it's not like it's an issue, but here are three weird things she did:

  1. When I opened the door to her, she said, "Hi," like we knew each other and just starting walking in. I had to say, "You're from the bank?" and she showed me her ID (showing she's their surveyor). I mean, we never met before!
  1. I made her a tea and we agreed she'd crack on while I got back to work. She went first into my bedroom and closed the door behind her. I thought she was closing it to look at something but then after a few minutes it was still closed. I got up, opened it, propped it open, smiled at her, and got back to work.
  1. After some time she went into the spare bedroom. She didn't close the door(!) but after five minutes or so I couldn't hear her walking around or anything so I waited a bit more, looked in, and she was sitting on the bed playing with the cat.

I said, "All done then?" and she got her things and left.

I'm still laughing! Any chance she wasn't actually an inspector and just came to nap?

Strange woman. Her own house is probably an absolute tip and she was enjoying spending time in a tidy house with a cat to play with 😂

I had this once - a planning inspector, clipboard in hand, barged in without saying a word when I opened the door, walked right through the house and tried to open the (locked) back door. He then looked most put out when I said 'er, I think you'll need a key, and are you the planning man?'. It beggars belief that people whose job involves working in other people's houses can be quite so lacking in basic people skills!

I was wondering if her kids were off school and she was enjoying the peace and quiet.

It's a good ruse! I'll try it the next time I'm out doing errands or something and I fancy putting my feet up for a bit.

I'd love to go to someone's house and play with a random cat.
