"Micro Wedding" Locations

Hi all,

My partner and I want to get married but we really only want to invite close family. So it will be a small affair. However we still want it to be something a bit special/different (so for example we wouldn't want a registry office and a meal for example - nothing wrong with that of course but just not quite what we are after). However trying to find places that offer more intimate weddings is proving tricky. I have heard them described as micro weddings when we are talking about the numbers we want. Ideally I would love something outside - so maybe a woodland type scene or, even better, something involving animals.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of anywhere around them that offers this sort of thing? Doesn't have to be outside so anything considered!

@eleanorwish do you know if your friend went for one of the intimate weddings? Was she happy with how it went?

I think the Roman baths in Bath only allow very small numbers at weddings there. I always thought it was an awesome venue.

We got married at Polpier House in Cornwall as we were only inviting close family - hired it for a week, had a great holiday with our wedding in the garden in the middle. It was perfect, small wedding but still felt like an event.

If you're able/willing to go to Scotland, you can get married anywhere here, it doesn't need to have a wedding licence. You can hire some lovely castles for small weddings. Have a look on air b and b and just search for weddings. You can also get married in Edinburgh Castle if you fancied a really fancy castle! There's also a place run by crear weddings that specialise in small weddings on their beach.

@Rosebud1302 I think there were about 12 guests, the ceremony took place in a little gazebo, and the guests had to sit on the lawn. After the ceremony we had a picnic- we were all given our own picnic basket. Then lots of cake. It was very relaxed there were a few games to play on the lawn, but we mainly chilled on the lawn.

eleanorwish · 04/06/2023 22:27

And yes, she was very happy. We were very lucky with the weather though, it was a beautiful sunny day.

South Causey Inn, Stanley

Outside is great as long as the weather holds.

Rayleigh windmill in Essex is lovely for small weddings - seats 20 max.

We're looking at getting married in Worcester Lodge, in Badminton Estate. l only have 14 guests as only wanted the closest. I think weddings of this size are referred to "intimate" weddings.

The lodge is max 20 seated so it was perfect for us - still wanted something special even if it was intimate.

There's a small building in gardens in bath that hold intimate weddings, apparently very nice
