Is this rolled gold ?

I was given some jewellery by my mum and she thought this was costume but I took a closer look at it and it had this engraved on it . Is it rolled gold or just initials

Just initials I would have thought. If gold it would have a hallmark.

Yes I think it is but its only a 30th of the value of actual gold

R. G is a stamp used for rolled gold on old jewellery
