Has anyone ever had ringworm?

Posting on here for traffic rather than on the health board. Picture attached. I noticed this on my arm this morning, only realised it was there because it was a bit itchy. I've looked online and I'm pretty sure it's ringworm. Has anyone got any experience of this? How easy is it to get rid of? How long does it take to go? And how likely is it to spread?

I had it. Honestly it was a total nightmare. I tried Clotrimazole (cream) and Fluconazole (pill) and then went to the doctor because it was spreading terribly and they recommended turbinafine cream (not sure on the spelling). That did help but didn't get rid of it and I ended up on the tablet equivalent. I think you can get the cream over the counter so might be worth a punt as a starting point.

For me, mine was spreading like mad but it started off as a small patch I didn't really notice and just ignored for ages before it went bonkers.

It's fairly contagious I think - you need to wash towels either on hot or with a disinfectant I think, and ideally the same for sheets etc.

DS had it. Just buy clotrimozole OTC and apply twice daily for a couple of weeks. It is contagious so wash bedding & don’t share towels etc. although are you sure it just isn’t a bite?

Oh bloody hell! Sounds like a nightmare. I've got some clotrimazole cream that I'm going to try to start with. Think I'll also give the GP a call on Monday to see if there's anything they can give me. Thanks for the warning!

I've just got rid of similar on my leg. I used geroline on it daily for about 2 weeks. I'm guessing i caught it early. I just thought I'd use what I already had before I bought a specialist cream. Might be worth a try if you have some.

Pretty sure it's not a bite. Looks different to the usual bites I've had from mosquitos, plus it is nowhere near as itchy as the bites I usually get.

I caught it years ago from my cat. I had cream from the doctor which cleared it up fairly quickly.

I did find out though that ringworm glows under ultraviolet light, so if you have access to a UV light, you can check that it is actually ringworm that way. Your photo does look like mine did though.

Geroline? Would I be able to get that from a pharmacy?

Could also be a bullseye rash from a tick bite infection of Lyme's disease. Personally I'd see a qualified professional asap as the jay thing you want is to be pursuing entirely unsuitable treatment for either/any of the possible options.

I had it on my hand and I put Daktarin cream on it which DH had for his athletes foot and it cleared up
