My daughter had these fitted today. She asked for grey but was given the wrong colour. She is terrified of them staining. Will they stain quickly? Any advice gratefully received.

What colour did she get?

dementedpixie · 03/06/2023 20:53

Or do you mean they were clear?
Depends what she eats/drinks I suppose

tallsmallmum · 03/06/2023 20:57

they all stain unfortunately. obviously turmeric and heavy pigments are worse but normal eating will stain them so please eat and there's nothing you can buy to remove the stain. sorry to be the bearer of bad news registered dental nurse

Sorry she got clear even though she asked for grey.

@tallsmallmum that's what I thought. She is hysterical about it (completely overreacting) but I somehow need to get her an appointment before august when she's next booked in or I'm not sure what she will eat. Trying to calm her down has taken over two hours 😞

I had mine fitted then went and ate carrot and coriander soup. Luckily I worked in the place so she quickly changed them but lesson learnt.

I'd call them tbh and say she didn't realise at the time but clear was put on instead of grey, I presume you're paying privately if it's clear so they shouldn't have a problem with it, my old practice wouldn't have jrs just one of those things and literally takes 1 min. People don't usually go for grey as it stands out against the white/clear so maybe that's why but still- she didn't get what she asked for

@dwightschrutebeets nope it's NHS so I'm not hopeful they will change it but I'm so worried she will stop eating.

I think this has highlighted my worries about her generally as her reaction was catastrophic. She is super bright and a perfectionist, I've wondered if she was on the autistic spectrum as I know this is annoying but she was inconsolable for hours.

I've also worked in 3 dental hospitals, I think if you call them an explain to the receptionist and ask them to ask if they'd change it they will. Say she's stopped eating, she has autism. It really dosent take long. Ask the receptionist to check with the nurses.

Bless her I hope they do it

They will get changed at every visit anyway
My dd chose purple mostly and they were good at avoiding stains
Phone them and they may change them earlier for her

The trouble is her next appointment is august 19th. That's a long time to not eat!!

I will definitely call and explain
