Why do I keep seeing these weird videos of people opening packets of things on social media?

Or 'get an order ready with me', which consists of a woman with long nails putting a load of plastic shite in a box whilst tapping her witchy nails on every item? Or 'watch me restock this mini fridge' by filling up tiny bottles and miniature choc bars etc? Again, the tippy tapping of nails on everything. It's obviously an ASMR thing but I see them all the bloody time! I think I have watched a few because I'm agog that people make such shite content, but there I am watching that shite content! 😂

If you click on certain videos and watch them, the algorithm thinks you’re interested, so it shows more of that type of video. Resist the urge to hate watch 😂

Yup it's madness

And then there's the whole series of obviously crap "tips" for cleaning or cooking that take forever until the reveal.... which is crap ... just to get people commenting.

I have to admit, I do find that sort of thing very watchable. People (with tappy nails) packing a lunch box, people (with tappy nails) putting lots of Zoflora in a cupboard, people (with tappy nails) putting sanny pads in a basket.

Some of the genuine ASMR is good. Most of it is people just trying to be outlandish and OTT to get views.

I agree with the PP about crappy cooking tips, there are some ladies who make food in a toilet. I saw one the other day with someone peeling an orange with a chopstick - it took way longer and all the white was left around the orange after. Definitely not a hack 😂

I do watch the odd unboxing YouTube, but it's about an item or products I'm interested in (like unboxing yarn haul as I'm into crochet). No nails on most crocheters!
Not sure about those restocking fridge, though can see the point of organising cupboards as may give good ideas.

Dd11 asks me to listen to her opening things, squeezing things. I've told her I'm an adult. She might like it but I don't. Social media. What next.

Yes! The incessant tap tap tappy of the witchy nails! What's all that about?
