I can smell heat - should I be worried?

Just about to go to bed, go out in hall landing and it smells like when a straightener or tong has been left on. Only on upstairs landing, nowhere else in house. Nothing is on, have checked all appliances. My worry is that the ceiling light directly below in downstairs hall is awful, constantly blowing bulbs so now I’m worrying it’s burning wires.

am I panicking over nothing or should I be worried?

If you're worried, flick the fuse off for the lights and make sure your smoke alarm is working.

It's probably find thought as burning wires tend to smell of burning rather than just heat.
