Best verucca treatment age 10

getafringenotbotox · 02/06/2023 18:04

Evening

Very boring for a Friday but Can anyone please recommend a verucca treatment that I can use in my Dd who is 10

Everything I have looked at so far is aged 16 or over.

Ideally I'm looking for something like plasters that will treat it

TIA

We do not recommend acid based treatments for young children within th3 foot health industry.Tape it with some zinc oxide tape. Dont be tempted with duct tape as it contains some nasty ingredients. Change the tape daily.

I've used a freezing treatment with my DC, it worked well. I cant remember the age limit on them but I think my daughter was about 4 at the time.

They recommend to leave them
To run their course now unless painful.

I’m a Podiatrist and I second the zinc oxide tape advice as above. Is the verruca painful?

Itsanotherhreatday · 02/06/2023 18:16

Use the blister plasters - time micro dot that hits the middle of the verruca - sell on Amazon

I found covering the verucca with super glue helped. Not sure if it was 'starved' of anything, seeing it grows inward. But they definitely disappeared much faster than with anything else I tried.

Thank you for all of the answers very helpful we will try the zinc oxide tonight as we have sone of this in the medicine box already.

Any idea how long it will take?

No she said it's not painful

I've never heard of zinc oxide tape. Do you still have to use a file with it? (I have extremely ticklish feet).

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 02/06/2023 20:14

Getafringe.. Tape it if not painful. It will take as long as it takes sadly. It is a virus,so will eventually go away on its own.

pixiedust.. no it is a tape. You just put it over the verucca. If you plan on filing, remember to use a new file each time, otherwise you are likely to spread the wart.

Both of my kids have caught verrucas over the years. Bastard things. One kid had one big one on the side of her foot that gave birth to more 🤢 and one kid had just one big one that grew on his big toe.

I tried Bazuka, and taping with electrical tape, but in the end the only thing that cured both kids was when they caught the verruca (on the carpet I think) and ripped it slightly, causing pain.

Verrucas grow on the surface of the skin meaning the body can’t fight the virus because it isn’t aware of the virus. I really think catching and tearing the skin slightly might have introduced the virus into the bloodstream. They were gone like magic within days, it was incredible.

I realise that doesn’t particularly help you because it’s not something you can do deliberately, but maybe you can cope for a similar accident!

@Jellycats4life

That has just gone right through me what you said about catching it on the carpet.

She is more squeamish than me, she will pick the zinc oxide tape method I just know she will.

I used bazuka gel every other evening and put a plaster over it. After time I as able to remove dead skin (and eventually verucca) using tweezers. This was for DS8.

PuttingDownRoots · 02/06/2023 22:15

we used bazuka extra strength. The verruca was causing pain when walking. It took a few weeks of nightly used but it did work

I know 😩 It hurt but the results were worth it!

I know someone upthread said not to use duct tape but that's the only thing that worked for my DD! It fell off within days.

Duct tape is not licensed for use on skin and contains harsh chemicals you dont want to be using on skin especially delicate children’s skin. Zinc oxide will do the same safely.
For the same reason as healthcare providers we dont use acid ie Bazuka etc as it can cause wounds, scarring etc on young skin.

paulmccartneysbagel · 04/06/2023 09:15

@WowIlikereallyhateyou oh yes I had no idea zinc oxide tape existed and would choose that over duct tape if I had to deal with verrucas again!
