40th birthday present ideas

It's my 40th in a month's time and family members are starting to ask my husband what to get me, and I'm drawing a blank. I'm at that stage where I just buy anything I need or want.

It would be lovely to have some special things to look back at and think 'Oh yes, my sister got me that for my 40th'... but what?

Please help my befuddled brain out. What did YOU get for your last big birthday?

I was exactly the same! I struggled.
Someone bought me a plant for the garden so I can always say that was for my 40th.
My friends got me a gorgeous bracelet with my birth stone.
My other friend got me a suitcase as I want to do more travelling and thought this was an amazing gift!

I think overall I over thought the 40th gifts and just was happy with what I received :)

I did want a nice original painting but it cost just under £200- my mum gave me the money for it so I could pick (but she said use money for whatever) and now I have the money I kind of don't want to use it for a painting heheh xx

Just searched Mumsnet for thread like this as I'm 40 next month@cheeeeseismydownfalland people are asking what I want! What did you end up with - any recommendations?!
