What do your 6/7 year olds want for their birthday?

DD is 7 very soon and I’m weirdly stuck for present ideas for her. She really doesn’t ask for much and is happy with all her toys. Likes books, dolls, craft, but I can’t think of a ‘big’ or even medium thing that would blow her away.

Definitely not roller skates or anything else on wheels - she’s not keen

Any ideas?

Barbie house
Swing ball for garden
Tablet
Squish mallow

My 6 yr old loves perfume, the RI or Next ones mainly

Rainallnight · 01/06/2023 23:33

Wow, perfume is very sophisticated! 😂
thanks for the ideas. Some sort of doll house could be a good shout.

I got mine a Liferyderscooter. It's been the most used present out of all birthdays and xmas's so far.

It’s hard at that age if they don’t know themselves what they want. The best presents tend to be the ones they wouldn’t have even thought of themselves imo. If she’s massively into dolls could you get her a reborn one (not sure of your budget)

redbullhabit · 01/06/2023 23:38

Barbie dream house !

Yes, that’s the thing, it’ll have to be something she’s never thought of!

She likes dolls but more like little play people like Playmobil. She’s not keen on reborn dolls and weirdly actively dislikes Barbie.

She has mentioned Gaby’s dolls house so that’s a dolls house option.

She really likes music and singing - browsing Smyths I’ve just seen a karaoke machine and a DJ deck - I think either of those would go down well

Twin granddaughters like the suitcase sized dolls houses. Also Frozen perfume

MsChatterbox · 02/06/2023 00:52

Yes get the karaoke machine. I distinctively remember being blown away by this as a child and having lots of fun with it!

atthebottomofthehill · 02/06/2023 02:51

Karaoke sounds good.
There are tonnes of great playmobil houses/castles/vehicles that she may like if she's not a girly girl.
Lego??
Trip to somewhere cool?
Creative experience eg pottery class for kids?
Something personalised - can't think what but kids like things with their names on

Girasoli · 02/06/2023 07:26

DS got our local town football kit and a star wars smart watch for his 7th birthday...its been super useful for long car journeys as he either plays games on it or narrates where we are going.

booksandbrooks · 02/06/2023 07:41

There doesn't have to be a big present imo.

Our generation dolls was the big hit at 7 round here.

Walkerbean16 · 02/06/2023 07:46

My daughter is 6 tomorrow and usually I buy a "big" present and some smaller ones but like you there is nothing she wants or needs! The biggest thing I have got her is a giant squishmallow, then a big polly pocket set and some smaller ones. Then i have got other small bits such as jewellery, a bag, a den making set a board game etc.

My 7 year old got karaoke for Christmas. I’m not going to lie, it’s the most annoying thing ever, and it’s only been used in the Christmas holidays so far.

she wasn’t a surprised this time, so far a big Polly pocket that was on offer in smyths, some Harry Potter lego, brush/aqua markers a kids Fitbit and some books she wanted.

riotlady · 02/06/2023 08:06

I was going to ask if she had any Polly Pockets? DD loves playmobil/duplo/tiny plastic figures and she was entranced when I introduced her to them

Her other current wish is a toy dog that you can take for walks - some sort of fake pet thing? Wasn’t there a Guinea pig that had babies that was all the rage at Christmas?

MoandJo · 02/06/2023 08:08

My daughter who will be 7 in august loves the schleich range of toys especially the horse riding sets. Maybe something like that if she enjoys small world toys? And there’s so many different ones to collect too.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/06/2023 08:09

My soon to be 6 year old doesn’t like toys really- we said instead of a party we will decorate her room this year- so present wise she’ll get room stuff or clothes for the next age up. Last Xmas we got her a karaoke machine for her age.

katscamel · 02/06/2023 08:20

There's a place near my parents that does alpaca trekking (though she'd have to be with an adult), and Shetland pony grooming/pygmy goat walking. Would something like that be of interest?

MrsChuckBass · 02/06/2023 14:28

Mine is 7 this summer.
She's asked for a skateboard and squashimallows

isthisit83 · 02/06/2023 22:39

If she is asking for anything, can you blow her away with a really special day out?

Mrsfussypants1 · 02/06/2023 23:11

*Camera that prints using thermal paper like kiddizoom print cam and scrap book
*art desk
*ikea mala drawing case and good art supplies
*how to draw books
*bookeez
*cat kid comic books or dog man books
*kids alexa owl/dragon and alexa controlled colour changing light bulb
*rucomfy/big berha been bag
*den for the garden
*smart watch

Our granddaughter turns 7 soon we've bought her a backpack, purse and a few bits from claires to go in it and booked tickets for the new lilidori adventure ground at Alnwick and Scouts hello kitty t shirt and hoody. She's into pokemon, aphmau, anything anime and drawing, Harry potter and her micro cruiser scooter.

MrsBarbaraLangerhans · 02/06/2023 23:13

My soon to be eight year old wants a bloody parrot.
He will not be getting one.

QuinnofHearts · 02/06/2023 23:16

My son recently asked for a switch for his 6th birthday so we could play Mario kart together.

Mrsfussypants1 · 02/06/2023 23:18

isthisit83 · 02/06/2023 22:39

I love this idea, cinema, bowling, theme park. Or claires, build a bear, art shop, toyshop or clothes shopping then her choice of place for food and dessert.

StMarysTrainee · 02/06/2023 23:19

Mine loved the Maileg mouse that lives in a matchbox. I got her the little accessories too and she spends hours playing with them. The Princess one with loads of mattresses and a pea hidden under the last one is very cute, as is the tin bath.
