thisisasurvivor · 01/06/2023 21:43

Call me mad
But

Two days before every single fulll moon my child's behaviour is out of control
Tantrums
Not wanting to get dressed

Lying on floor

Anyone else ever notice this
Two days before the full moon?

Been tracking it now for around 14 months 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

This is absolutely a thing. My mum is a retired psychiatrist nurse and said this about patients.
Where do you think the word 'lunatic' comes from??!!

ZombiePara · 01/06/2023 22:07

Can confirm as a paramedic we can also tell the moon cycle by the patients we go to!

Cannot comment on the child side, but based on the other comments and observations....I'm not a bit surprised!

Your mum should be aware of confirmation bias then 🙄

I used to work in a residential school for autistic children.

It's definitely a thing. Our incident log was always brimming around a full moon.

We call it full.moon fuckery at school.

RedRobyn2021 · 01/06/2023 22:26

Well this could explain our horrendous day, interesting

Agii · 01/06/2023 22:26

Definitely a thing. My son was really difficult at bedtime at 10 pm, weird whining noise and awfully Defiant. Have has disturbed night during the full moon build up in the past. I have had awful insomnia 2 days prior to full moon in last 2 years.

thisisasurvivor · 01/06/2023 22:27

Full moon Fckery today

Sweet lord

And my screams
Still kicking my self for dealing with it so badly

Yes. I’ve taught in mainstream and special Ed and it affects every single one of the buggers! 😜

I will never forget, as a newly qualified teacher, looking out of the window at the children going bonkers on the playground, to be told it was because it was windy. Leaves flying around everywhere and the kids madly chasing/screaming. My colleague at the time said it affects chickens and horses etc, too!

thisisasurvivor · 01/06/2023 22:31

My gosh !!!!

So I will need to plan better in future
Maybe a day indoors instead 🤣🤣🤣

Every few weeks our cats get irritated and grumpy with one another, and make nuisances of themselves for a couple of days. Every time we wonder what's got into them all, and then we twig. Full moon coming up. The rest of the time they are a chilled happy family.

User12310 · 01/06/2023 22:38

Police officer friend also mentioned this!

I don't know why/how there haven't been studies proving a link?!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 01/06/2023 22:43

I'm a copper and we've always talked about it like it's a real thing (Not as real as PC Rain who gets rid of drunk fighty fuckers really well).

However I got into a discussion about it the other week, I couldn't stand everyone's insistence that it's a 'thing' when no one had any evidence to back it up.
So I googled it and apart from a few nonsense schtick stuff I found this Royal Museums Greenwich link which suggests there is no scientific basis for this apocryphal theory!
Just going to send it to my colleagues...

Can the Moon affect our health and behaviour?

Sleep trouble. Violent behaviour. Mental health. Menstrual cycles. All these and more have at one time or another been associated with the Moon.

Jellos · 01/06/2023 22:45

So weird it’s not something I’ve ever noticed!

thisisasurvivor · 01/06/2023 22:45

Anecdotally it seems so

But so few studies

OP posts:
NoWittyNamesAvailable · 01/06/2023 22:45

This is 100% a thing. My eldest son has ASD, i can tell when a full moon is coming because his behaviour sky rockets from a few days before until a day or 2 after. He takes a while to settle back down.

It's the same with teething nappies. I've literally never met anyone who hasn't experienced them, especially those who work with many children and yet again no statistical data to prove them.

CrackedSkull · 01/06/2023 22:49

Ask the emergency services about the full moon .

Jellos · 01/06/2023 22:50

Yea teething apparently there’s no reason to get bad nappies or a temp but we know it happens.

CrackedSkull · 01/06/2023 22:50

Lunatic - Lunacy - Lunatic asylum. All to do with the moon .

LemonLimeDivine · 01/06/2023 22:52

Two decades in the emergency services…… it is definitely a thing. 100%
