Warm home discount has not been automatically applied

DWP automated voice blamed the energy company and ended the call, the energy company blamed the DEPend won't apply it they insist the CEO is at fault?

The energy company woman let slip I am not the only one this happened to, if it keeps happening why are vulnerable people being caught in this stressful situation?

What do I do?

Predicted text typos for DWP.

So DWP won't speak to you about it they cut you off after they say the energy company adds it automatically.

I am not on UC so have no online DWP account.

The energy supplier WarmHomeDiscount part of the site says it's closed.

I have always applied my circumstances have not changed and I am on a legacy benefit. I was told not to change to UC as it is better to be moved over, as they mess you up otherwise.

I have emailed the energy company querying why it wasn't automatically applied.

The woman who called today from the debt part of the energy company was all cold looking for the money and softened when I asked abuse WHD then got cold again demanding me pay, I shouldn't have this issue, they are chasing me for money the DWP says they gave automatically.

It's been a nightmare for us too. We chased the scheme when the discount hadn't been applied (we've qualified for several years) and was told they needed confirmation from DWP / HMRC of our benefit so I gave permission for them to contact them. Then we received a letter from the scheme saying DWP / HMRC couldn't confirm our entitlement so could we send an award notice, which we did nearly a month ago and still nothing on our energy account.

As you know, the telephone number for the scheme is now just a recorded message so I'm preparing myself to take it up with British gas but really can't be doing with the hassle.

Good luck!

May I ask what benefits you claim? Has something gone wrong with one group?

So how much will this eventually cost in court cases to the taxpayer for a debt we should not have? The DWP says it is automatic, so I assume we can't lose a court case in the matter?

Did you meet the new eligibility criteria? The assessments took place in November last year and would depend on your benefits and energy rating of your home.
i didn’t get it because we lived in a small flat with a decent rating, however we moved in jan to a house with a lower rating and didn’t get it (even though we spend an absolute fortune heating the home over winter) because we missed the qualifying period

I can't get cavity wall insulation so I don't have a great rating and I get ESA.

There is a damp proof course issue when i had a survey so I left it with the gap.

I was told that the house I am attached to had damp due to their cavity wall insulation and they had to remove all their plaster, it was very noisy. They never removed the wet cavity wall insulation, they are weird people keeping Tom's so I avoid them , they put external insulation all around and trapped it in and injected something inside.

We get income support and I will think housing benefit is a qualifying benefit? We get that too.

The scheme helpline confirmed the energy rating of our address qualified as well as the benefit/s we are on quality too. The problem seems to be DWP can't confirm it to the scheme / energy supplier!
