Physical shop to buy 3m phone charging cable

I'm sick of getting knock off and poor quality charging cables online so I thought maybe getting one from a big retailer might mean it's more likely to be genuine. I tried TK Maxx yesterday but they only had lightning or shorter 1m ones. Flying Tiger used to sell great quality cables but bizarrely they've changed them all to be Apple so that was a big disappointment.

I can't think of where else to try, especially for the longer length, does anyone have any good ideas?

WHSmith but they’re not great value.

madeinmanc · 01/06/2023 10:07

2 or 3 metre is OK, I just meant the really long ones.

Finding something in person seems really weird these days!

Aha, WH Smith! Didn't think of that. That would be like going back a decade or more! 😅

Shall I pick up some CD ROMS while I'm there? 🤣

I've bought the longer length ones in Poundland, B+M and One Below.

Boots?

Floppy12 · 01/06/2023 10:11

Argos?

TeaandHobnobs · 01/06/2023 10:11

IKEA do long charging cables

Puppylover83 · 01/06/2023 10:13

What phone connection do you need. Tesco or Argos sell the juice brand cables that you can get longer cables.

oldernotwiser73 · 01/06/2023 10:14

B&M sell them, reasonably priced and decent quality

madeinmanc · 01/06/2023 10:20

I need USB C for Android.
Thanks everyone, I've got a few options here. Maybe even an excuse for and IKEA trip!

Asda have a good range.

MrsClatterbuck · 01/06/2023 10:28

I usually buy cables in Tesco or other shops but needed new ones and just went to Amazon and thought I was buying 2 cables but actually was buying 4 as there were 2 in each box. They have been the best cables I have ever bought and haven't got frayed at the ends as the others where the plastic got cracked and bent.
Just looked at the end and it says JS AUX. Also they were a lot cheaper.

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/06/2023 10:29

IKEA ones are very good - they are also fabric rather than plastic covered so much more robust.

madeinmanc · 01/06/2023 10:31

I'm actually not keen on the fabric ones, I've been through several that haven't lasted before. They're great at first but the wires twist inside the fabric and then they stop working, in my experience.

I have been using the braided USB C ones now for at least 3 years and no problems whatsoever.

helpfulperson · 01/06/2023 10:35

Oddly our local post office sells them.

madeinmanc · 01/06/2023 10:35

Thanks, 1.5 m is too short for me though.

£-stretcher sell the 3m micro-USB ones for about £1.50.

TBH the connections seem to go a bit wobbly after a while but they're reasonable for the price.

Thepleasureofyourcompany · 01/06/2023 10:36

I always use argos for this

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/06/2023 10:38

1.5m is too short! What are you doing? Charging your device from another room?

twilightcafe · 01/06/2023 10:38

Primark sell usb c leads. Mine seem to charge quickly and they last ages (until the kids 'borrow' them).

crackfoxy · 01/06/2023 10:38

TK Maxx just bought one they had lots

madeinmanc · 01/06/2023 21:11

I went back in TK Maxx and they must have had new stock, I picked up a 2 metre Belkin one that seems fine. It's USB A to USB C, now I'm wondering if I should be getting USB C to USB C from now on? But that would mean buying new chargers 🤔

Also went in Asda, the ones they had in stock did look really nice actually, but the USB C ones were OOS.

I didn't have to work today and it was a real treat going round the shops, browsing and finding random stuff. I'm really going to miss that if it completely disappears.
