Help me order the right size here.
My DD is quite big for her age. Her chest measurement is 33/34’
she wants her hoodie “oversize”
I think M, she thinks L
I need to get this ordered and don’t want to mess it up.

trying on her sisters S one wasn’t much help- it fitted nicely but can’t imagine what the M or L would be like .

Are all your year 6s going massive on the hoodies?

Do the school not have sample sizes to try on?

DelilahBucket · 01/06/2023 09:51

A medium going by that chart. She's probably only going to wear it once anyway.

HereLiesBetelgeuse · 01/06/2023 09:52

They all wear them big here. I ordered 2 sizes up from the right measurement and it looks good.

Just get one as large as possible.
Oversized is fine, too small is not and the fashion seems to be for big hoodies. DD is a size 6/8 and steals my size 16 ones

Beachhutnut · 01/06/2023 10:17

I got my similar sized daughter an M

TrishTrix · 01/06/2023 10:18

I’d get the l. She is more likely to wear it big than small.

TeaandHobnobs · 01/06/2023 10:20

A size L would fit my 6ft plus not slender husband, by that chart. I’d go M - it will still be oversized on her, but not ridiculous

PhantomErik · 01/06/2023 10:21

Get the large, oversized is definitely in.

My DD14 is a size 6-8 & loves my size 18's!

GeorgeSpeaks · 01/06/2023 10:22

You're over thinking it. She wants it big, bigger will last longer. Get L!

mondaytosunday · 01/06/2023 10:22

Médium. If she's still growing though get her large (my daughter stopped growing at 12).
Trend is for oversize and my 34 inch daughter would get a large, though I think it's too large!

Looks like similar sizing to the ones our school ordered.

My very slender y6 has an age 12 - 13, and it seems to be roughly the same size as an adult S, only difference being that the S has a drawstring at the neck.

The age 12-13 on my dd is roomy width ways, but not particularly long. I wouldn't say its fashionably oversized/enormous. So ... go for M may be??

PuttingDownRoots · 01/06/2023 10:26

If its Unisex stuff... as a 16-18 woman I get XL for it to be slightly baggy

timefornewme2023 · 01/06/2023 10:26

My DDs practically went to her knees when she got it - oversized definitely in !
She wore it EVERYWHERE last summer and is still happy to wear it now 1 year on so it's worth getting it with growing room and getting what she wants.

Season0fTheWitch · 01/06/2023 10:35

Get the L, she'll grow into it when she's older and it's in now to wear too-big hoodies.

Coronationstation · 01/06/2023 10:36

I'm a similar chest size and wear an adult small to fit me normally. if she wants it properly oversized I'd probably go for a large.

Winnie27 · 25/11/2024 12:00

My grandson is age 3 but looking at the 2 - 4 oversized gown hoodies, seems narrow. Any advice as far as young ones? I was considering getting 4 - 6 now instead. Considering the type of thing it is, and listening to comments, presuming bigger the better. Thank you

No way, the kids round here wear them for whole last term of school plus at least the next year after. My son's in year 10 and still occasionally wears his year 6 leavers hoodie.

AlwaysFreezing · 25/11/2024 12:08

We had the same dilemma last year. They took so long to arrive that lots of parents complained that their kids no longer fit them. I was glad I went for a large!

Crikey my DS would have been embarrassed to be wandering around in a primary school hoodie after starting secondary, let alone at 14-15 years old!! I imagine most teenagers would.
