How is it?

As a 9 year girl I adored (and still adore) the cartoon.

Wondering how the film stands up?

We thought it was fantastic! Brilliant cast too x

We're off to see it today! My DD7 is mixed race and is soooo excited to see Ariel x

It was very long (I was with a 5 year old so maybe that's why it felt so long!) and the actors (apart from the one playing Ariel) were a bit rubbish but I did really enjoy it. I loved the new songs and Ariel was very good.

Hope you enjoy, I'm tempted to take my dd8. Hope she won't get bored.

Interesting. Do they have the original song too?

I love the actor who plays Triton (Javier Bardem)

I know 3 people who have taken their children to see it and all of them have said it was rubbish and way too long.

kezziecakes · 01/06/2023 08:39

I'm not an expert on the original but they still had the main songs - eg under the sea and part of that world but a few new ones too.

LilacSorbet · 01/06/2023 08:40

I really enjoyed it. The new Ariel was lovely, they tried to give Eric a bit more of a personality than the original, Melissa McCarthy did alright as Ursula. Lots of old songs in it (but not Oh poisson! Oh poisson! How I LOVE le poisson!, which is a banger Grin) and some new (Eric should have given his arms a rest in his Grin). Loved Sebastian and Scuttle.

I think it's well worth a watch.

Crunchymum · 01/06/2023 08:58

Oh no. Love a bit of "Le Poisson" 😂

Think I may take the 8yo over the weekend and give it a whirl.

My Mum took my DDs (10 and 12) to see it yesterday and they loved it. It isn’t really their thing usually so I’m surprised but they thought it was pretty good.

Harringtonperle · 02/06/2023 14:03

I think it's suited to older children. I took my 10 and 12 year old this morning and they loved it. A word of warning though, I think sensitive younger children could potentially be quite scared in some parts

Unicorntearsofgin · 02/06/2023 14:06

I wasn’t keen overall but the woman who played Ariel was great.

2/10 for the film
10/10 for Ariel such a beautiful voice and so expressive. I hope she does lots more films.
