I can't sleep as my duvet is too warm. What tog size do you sleep with in the summer and can you recommend where to buy a good one?

4tog feather and down from IKEA but when it’s very warm, we use just a pure wool cellular blanket with a sheet.

4.5 feather and down BUT I really miss my old wool duvet which really was all seasons and never felt too hot or too cold.

I've used a 1 tog duvet for the last few years. I bought mine from Dunelm but I've seen them on Amazon too.

Not sure on tog but it’s wool and perfect. Clips to another wool one which is autumn/spring and together they’re winter. Hope the bastard moths don’t get them.

Is wool not too warm? What are the benefits of wool over down, or vice-Versa?

We have a wool duvet that splits so 4.5 for summer and then we button on a further 10.5 for Winter. It's not warm, it self cleans, it's great ( just heavier than the man made ones so bear that in mind).

I’ve got a summer weight wool duvet. Also a flat cotton sheet for when it gets really warm.

I wondered this never heard of a wool duvet. Is that not a blanket??

No. It’s a duvet with wool filling. They’re great – make the bed look neater than a feather one too, though the lack of floof takes some getting used to. They’re solid in the way a synthetic one is, but more pleasant.

4.5 tog in summer
10.5 tog in winter

DappledThings · 01/06/2023 06:11

I use 10.5 year round but with an extra blanket in winter and just kicked off entirely when it's really hot. Window is open 24/7.

Thank you for introducing me to the concept of a wool blanket. I bought a 4.5 tog one and just love it. Slept so well last night and it feels so luxurious!

I find wool duvets too warm.

waistchallenge · 03/06/2023 09:21

Could you link to the one you bought please? Sounds great.

NBLarsen · 03/06/2023 09:26

I have a 2.5 tog duvet from Ikea, machine washable so I use it without an extra cover and just wash each week - dries very quickly.

wondabar · 03/06/2023 11:35

The one I got was SUFUEE King Size Duvet, 4.5 Tog Luxurious Wool Duvet, Fresh Ideas Washable Australian Wool Filled Quilt, 230T Soft Fabric Shell(King size :230x220cm) amzn.eu/d/8g5ltG1
amzn.eu/d/8g5ltG1

It is not too hot at all. I'm very pleased with it.
