Truly happy?

I was sat in my garden today and I thought to myself that I'm actually really happy. I'm not financially rich by any stretch of the imagination but I have a great job, lovely house and my health. Anyone else truly happy and content at the moment (I'm very conscious just how quickly it can change)

I sometimes look around and reflect on how fortunate I am, at any given point. No, everything isn't completely rosie in the garden, but at times I can just think 'life is good', and it's nice to do so.

I think gratitude is important irrespective of our lot in life. Also contentment is far more a viable goal or state to be in than happiness which to my mind is unreachable. Just my view anyway.

I was thinking of commenting today on a really old thread here about when you’re truly happy. We have a heat wave at the mo (Ireland) and I was in my car today with both windows open and the wind hitting me while the sun warmed my face and was driving by just stunning scenery and it was one of those perfect moments, just a short while after myself and 15 yo just sat on the steps eating an ice cream (Aldi white chocolate magnum type, in case anyone’s wondering!)

I'm truly happy and content OP, it's taken me a long time to get here and I cherish it. We don't have a lot of money, im in pain most days to varying degrees but what we have in each other no amount of money could buy. We are very lucky. My DH has his health, gout aside 🤣 and loves his job. This is our second marriage and I've never been this happy. 🥰
