Can I wash a double duvet in a 7kg washing machine?

The internet says yes, but I'm wary...

Just bog-standard synthetic duvets, but it's to be lovely here weather-wise over the next couple of days and it would save a huge amount of faff if I could just chuck them in the machine and then dry them on the line.

Any experiences, for good or ill?

If it fits..........

No!!!!! I have a 9kg Samsung washing machine. It didn't work. Not sure the remnants of the duvet, or DH, have forgiven me yet.....

I wash a 10 tog king size in an 8kg machine and it is fine, but am always a bit nervous tbh!

I washed a double in my 7kg machine last week and it was absolutely fine. Go for it!

Okshacky · 31/05/2023 22:54

How much does it weigh? (Look for it online and it’s written on the product info)

USaYwHatNow · 31/05/2023 22:56

Pretty sure ours is 8kg and I wash our super king duvet in there 😬😬

Tr1skel1on · 31/05/2023 22:58

@AffIt it got to about 9 mins from the end of the cycle and just couldn't do the final spin. Machine kept resetting so added even more water but still couldn't spin. Couldn't even do a proper drain cycle

Never again! Apart from that my Samsung washing machine bought in a hurry reluctantly has been absolutely brilliant, it's just shit at heavy stuff

Same. Did mine yesterday 😊

Just thought, I live somewhere quite far north and cold. Think my duvet might be quite a bit thicker than someone who lives down south

Tr1skel1on · 31/05/2023 23:02

Mystery solved. My duvet is 18 tog. It's cold here

Tr1skel1on · 31/05/2023 23:04

My summer duvet is 14 tog! Wow.

DappledThings · 31/05/2023 23:24

I can just about do a single in my 9Kg machine. No chance I'd get a double in it.

AffIt · 31/05/2023 23:41

Right. Thank y'all for your input, I've decided to go for it...

I shall report back tomorrow morning.

Like a pp I have an 8kg machine and it ended in disaster. Back to the launderette for me after that. It's only a tenner and if I drop it off on the way to work he has it all done and dried by the time I'm on my way home.

Oh no, you've swung me the other way now! We do have a really good launderette just done the road...

I am lazy and easily led.
