Hi, I need some advice about raising money please.

I'm hoping to buy a special adaptive bike for my disabled son. It's very expensive (more than £2600). He would really love it and it would make him so happy. A few of my friends have said do a go fund me as they want to help us buy it. Some of them have never even met him but saw videos of him on a rented one and saw how much it would mean to him.

I'm really really reluctant to ask people for money but they really want to help. I looked into go fund me and of course they have fees. I'm even less keen on asking people for help if some of their money would be lining someone else's pockets. So would it be reasonable to ask people for help, but then to get them to put money straight into my bank account? I would only be asking friends and family, not strangers on the internet. Or do you think they would be more comfortable doing it by go fund me?

Many thanks xx

I think a GoFund Me would be something that other people would contribute to. It also makes it appear like more of an appeal, than "asking a friend to help me out" (which I know is psychological, but.....).

I mean, there are also lots of charities out there that can help with this sort of thing, but I am aware that takes time.
