Parking at the O2 when car park 1 is full

Hello wise MNers

We've been offered tickets to Peter Kay on Sat and have to drive in, but all the pre book car park spaces in car park 1 is full.

On the website it says for non-events you can pay as you go in car parks 2 and 3. Can I just park there and pretend I'm not there for an event?! Am I missing something that means I can't park there?

Whenever I go to the O2 for an event I tell the parking officers that I'm going for dinner or to the cinema so we can pay the hourly car parking rate instead of the event parking flat fee.

there will be a parking attendant at the barrier asking why you want to use the car park. You need to be ready to explain that you are going out for dinner so they give you an hourly ticket - if they don’t believe you they will give you a flat rate ticket which costs the same as the event parking.

Gotcha! So just say dinner and cinema. Thanks!
