Mirena caused vulvovaginitis - help

I’ve posted before under different name. Long story short after months of constant burning itching type vulva pain (began when had Mirena in) I saw a second gp who said it was vulvovaginitis due to my Mirena and we removed it. First wouldn’t believe it was linked.

Within days it was so much better and normal. I could have sex again etc.

However the symptoms return in the lead up to my period and a few days in they go again. I’m convinced after googling that this is cyclic vulvovaginitis due to the Mirena which came out 6 weeks ago.

What I can’t figure out is whether it will settle down or go away as the Mirena effects subside or am I stuck with this? I will go back to my lovely second GP but just want to go armed with knowledge.

any help appreciated!!

I have no answer but I was very interested in this as I have been suffering with the same symptoms and been to the drs on numerous occasions and questioned whether my coil was causing this and was told no. I have now had it out and the symptoms seem to have gone. I'm much older than you tho.

Thank you, I was told the same but I am 100% sure now. Luckily the second gp was very smart and onto it. Just hope someone can help me.
