Non stick frying pan alternatives to teflon

Eloradannin2nd · 29/05/2023 19:40

My Teflon coated frying pan has started to peel. It’s about 10 years old, so good going. Im now looking at alternatives but the more I look the more confused I get 😳
I initially looked at cast iron, but then I saw ceramic. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Google Hexclad. They are expensive but excellent quality

I have a cast iron pan - good for anything that has to go in the oven and after a few years use it's pretty much non stick even for eggs.

My favourite pan is carbon steel - lighter than cast iron but I use it all the time now. I don't cook meat, but it's great for browning some onions, frying eggs, home made flat breads etc. It's this one - I got it on a deal for about £40. I imagine it'll last a lifetime.

No non-toxic coatings and super easy to clean, but they need a little while to build up seasoning unless you oil and bake them a few times to do it.

I've got Hexclad- eye wateringly expensive outlay for a pan but I LOVE it, so versatile and really good results.
I also have a Scoville (I think I picked it up in Sains/Asda) that would probably fit the bill? I haven't actually cooked a fried egg in it yet but I'd be fairly confident it wouldn't stick, nothing else has.

Cast iron- treat it well and it’s non stick for everything.

Brilliant! Thank you for your replies. I was leaning towards cast iron, but I will look at all of the suggestions. I know how to rock a bank holiday evening 😂
