Steamer vs iron?

Does anyone have a handheld steamer instead of an iron?

I have not owned an ironing board for 20 years! (I dress casually and am self employed). But I would like to wear some linen dresses or shirt dresses that need a bit of tlc

i like the idea of a hand held steamer so I don’t have to store an ironing board. Does anyone have one? Are they safe to use on a dress hanging on a door? Do they work on linen?

Ive recently got a steamer for that exact reason.
Its great! I hung the top on on a hook (with a hanger), and steamed it, and it worked a treat!

Definitely better than having an ironing board and an iron!

lovely! Thanks - would you mind saying which one you got?

I have an amazing steamer - it's the Philips one from John Lewis. So effective, easy to use and quick. I can steam my linen shirt when getting dressed in a minute, or a dress, makes getting ready easy and it takes little to no time.

I hate ironing with a passion. I've just bought a steamer and much prefer it.

I'm not sure what it is. I needed it for a black tie do as the dress I had taken in to the office to wear that evening looked like a rag. It was whatever the nearest Argos had in stock. It was about £40.

Does anyone steam shirts successfully?
