I’m one of those people who can’t draw anything at all, but I’d like to find out if it’s possible. There’s so many books baked things like Drawing For Absolute Beginners etc but there’s so many that I don’t know which one to buy.

Also I can’t work out if the books have space in them for your drawings, or if you’re supposed to buy a separate sketchbook?

Any advice gratefully received, and don’t worry, I’m not trying to become a professional or anything, just interested in exploring the basics to find out if I can do anything at all!

buy a separate sketch book with spiral bound pages - it is much easier to get the page properly flat. 'The works' have v cheap ones or go to a proper art shop

get good pencils and a really good rubber

most books called 'drawing for beginners' are rubbish. they make things far too complicated. Think about what you want do draw. do you want to do landscapes or still life or cartoons or people or what? Look in an art shop for a book that covers the specific topic you want.

if you want to make scenes and fun pictures rather than trying to make your picture look like a photo, then this book is nice

Also, look up a local art class - some are not too expensive and it can be very helpful to work with others on drawings.
