Storage or otherwise. Either to maje life easier, enable more independence, clear clutter....

I'd have to say a dustpan and brush for lego.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 29/05/2023 13:05

A step stool so they can open and close their own curtains. That way they can play with Lego or read until tired and then draw them when ready for sleep.

Considering a lego storage table, the sort topped with the lego base so they can build onto it.

Alexa! I'm sure that'll go down like a lead balloon, but Alexa plays their music, audiobooks, radio etc. Answers their random questions, controls their smart plugs to turn things on/off at plugs that are squashed behind furniture. She works as an intercom, so I can call them down for dinner/breakfast without shouting throught the house, she sets alarms to wake them or remind them to do things.

They cost about £20 each (they're old style ones, not fancy new ones) and worth their weight in gold here!

We don't have any alexa or smart speakers in the house, I'm a bit kagging behind with technology! Dc are only 6 and 7 though so nit sure if they'd be OK?

DS has an Alexa home and it's the most useful thing ever

Xmasbaby11 · 29/05/2023 23:28

Alexa for sure

dd got hers aged 8. Mostly for audible and setting alarms and hearing the time from her bed!

A modular wardrobe, it's made up of boxes that attach, you can remove parts of the boxes and moved it around. The 2nd row up doesn't have a base atm and is the perfect height for ds (3) clothes, it allows him to pick his own outfits and get dressed, this will move upwards as he grows. There are cubes that his shoes, pj's, underwear etc go into.

Low drawer unit rather than a toy box, so he can put his toys in drawers rather than opening a lid and pulling everything out to get what he wants.

Chalkboard wall. He went through a stage of drawing on his walls, so when we redecorated his room dh asked him if he wanted a drawing space, ds said yes,so he now has a wall painted in chalkboard paint and he can doodle til his heart is content. I guess giving his a dedicated space removes the temptation to do it more?

IKEA trofast unit for storing toys! We have this one that's like steps but there's lots of different options and different sizes of tubs as well.

I agree with PPs alexa/google speaker. DD is 3 now and has had it in her room since she was a baby (we live on a busy road and needed white noise playing all night).

Corner net hammocks to keep soft toys in. Up high so takes up no room space.

LittleRidingHood · 30/05/2023 00:36

Black out blinds

Catsmere · 30/05/2023 04:04

Me.

(My DC are cats and sleep on my bed.) 😉

Under bed storage boxes for my 10yo

My nearly 12yo has the small bedroom. She has a double loft bed which is basically her nest... lots of cushions etc so she relaces up there as well as sleeping. Then underneath she has space for her desk, one of thos cube storage units and a book case. The only other thing in the room is the build in wardrobe. The bed takes up the whole room but creates space.

Bemyclementine · 30/05/2023 13:12

They have the high beds with wardrobe, desk and drawers under. It's a bit room but 2 sharing. I think the trofasy looks great abd the stepped one will help dcat get on the bed .

I've ordered the sift toy hammocks, they have loads which just make the room look untidy .

Thanks!
