Crieff Hydro - any good for teens?

Planning a UK-based holiday this summer (I know, we’ve left it late to arrange anything) and wondered whether Crieff Hydro is any good for teens/tweens? Or is it mainly aimed at little kids? We usually go to Wales and sometimes Cornwall, Sussex, and fancy spending some time in Scotland or somewhere different this year. How are the midgies in August as well - will they be awful? We are quite outdoorsy so will want to be out and about. Thank you!

We stopped, as a couple, overnight and found it crowded, the pool wasn’t particularly great and was closed after a child was sick in it!
Dinner was OK, breakfast was like canteen food.
Others may have had a different experience. The original building is beautiful.

i’mve been a few times with my kids, although they are primary aged. Lots of outdoor activities like Zorbing, archery, quad bikes etc. The self catering lodges are lovely and it’s only a short walk into the town as well.

Ah thank you- mixed reviews so far then 😬. Will see if I can find any reviews on Tripadvisor from people who’ve taken teens/tweens. My big worry is that it is more aimed at families with little kids!

We took DS plus friend when they were 16. We had one of the larger self-catering cottages higher up the hill (only a couple up there so quiet). Had a great time. The boys played tennis most days, played golf a couple of times, did the zip wire trail and segways. We explored Crieff and the wider area. They also did a half-day white water rafting from Aberfeldy. Midges not an issue end of August.
