How long is this going to go on for? The price of Muller corners has gone up another 50p in four weeks. So it was £1.99 for six around covid. Then £2.25. Then pretty quickly has gone £2.50, £3.00, £3.50 and now today in Sainsburys there were on the shelf at £4.00. Where does this end? £10 by the end of the year? I’ve obviously no longer buying them but they’ve become by benchmark for price rises.

I know it’s absolutely bonkers.

I was horrified last week when my food shop was £120 odd. 3 bags of shopping, ingredients for 5 dinners, lunches and basics like bread and milk for 2 adults and 1 young child. The same weekly shop was less than £80 a year an a half ago...

I've just paid £2.95 for a can of coconut milk in Tesco express. I know it's more expensive but still.

My weekly total is up at least 25% on a year ago, and that is with making cut-backs. I am in the fortunate position to be able to have chosen cheaper alternatives than I used to. For those who were already buying the cheapest or everything it must be very challenging indeed. I wonder if there needs to be some additional sort of food support payment brought in for lowest-income households.
